Students and staff are celebrating the accomplishments of this year’s GCSE cohort
Celebrations are taking place at Sandymoor Ormiston Academy today as students collect their GCSE results following months of hard work, determination and commitment.
Students have achieved some notable successes, with the number of the highest GCSE grade 9s awarded, doubling compared with last year. There has also been a 32% increase in the number of grades awarded at 7–9, reflecting the strong performance of students achieving the highest levels of attainment.
Alongside the academy’s success, standout individual achievements included:
- Twins Nessa and Rowan, with Nessa achieving achieved a grade 9 in combined sciences, geography, history and psychology and an 8 In English literature and maths, and Rowan who achieved a grade 9 in geography and textiles and a grade 8 in English language, English literature and combined sciences
- Meagan who received a 9 in physics and psychology, a Distinction* in Engineering and an 8 in biology, chemistry, English language and English literature
- James who received a grade 9 in English literature and maths and a grade 8 in biology, chemistry, English language, geography, music and physics
- Thomas who secured a grade 9 in biology, chemistry, geography and physics, a Distinction+ in engineering and an 8 in maths
- Daniel who received a 9 in biology, maths and physics and an 8 in chemistry, computer science and geography
- Mia who achieved a 9 in chemistry and psychology, a Distinction in dance and an 8 in biology, English language, maths and physics
- Amelia who was awarded a 9 in history, a Distinction in dance and an 8 in biology, chemistry, English literature, maths and physics
- Sandra who achieved a grade 9 in biology and physics and a grade 8 in chemistry, maths and history
- Charlie who secured a grade 9 in history and a grade 8 in combined sciences, food, maths and psychology
