26th June - Change of timings to the school day

I hope you are well.

Following on from my message yesterday, I am writing to confirm that the adjusted arrangements to the school day will remain in place for tomorrow due to the continued weather forecast.

School will open at the usual time, and students are expected to attend as normal for Periods 1–4. With the adaptations we have made in school, temperatures during the morning were manageable today, and students were able to continue their learning.  It is therefore important that all students attend in the morning so that they do not miss valuable learning time.

As previously communicated, online work during Periods 5 and 6 will allow students to continue their learning from home in a cooler environment.

For students entitled to free school meals, a packed lunch will be provided before departure. Students should make their way straight home at 12.35.

I would also like to acknowledge that yesterday’s notification was later than I would have ideally wished. We delayed communicating until we had carefully considered all possible options, as we are very mindful of the disruption that changes like this can cause. Wherever possible, we were striving to avoid earlier closure of the school, as this would result in greater loss of learning time for students. The measures we have put in place are intended to strike a balance between maintaining high-quality learning and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students and staff.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and understanding.
