25th June - Extreme Heat

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you are well.

Due to the current extreme heat conditions forecast for tomorrow, we will be implementing a temporary adjustment to the school day in order to safeguard the health and wellbeing of both students and staff.

School will open at the usual time, and students will attend lessons for Periods 1–4 as normal. However, Periods 5 and 6, work will be shared on Teams allowing students to complete their learning from home in a cooler and more comfortable environment. Students should travel directly home when dismissed at 12.35.

As you will appreciate, the design of our building means that internal temperatures can become significantly higher than in some other local schools. We are therefore taking this precautionary step to reduce the risk of heat-related illness and ensure the welfare of our school community.

For those students who are entitled to free school meals, a packed lunch will be provided before departure so that they are supported during the afternoon.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. These decisions are not taken lightly, but the wellbeing of our students and staff must remain our priority at all times.

Thank you for your continued support.

Ms L Hand

Principal
