New Aerospace Partnership
The sky’s the limit for our students with new aerospace partnership

We’re delighted to share that Sandymoor Ormiston Academy is working in partnership with Héroux-Devtek, a global aerospace company based just minutes from the academy, to offer exciting work experience opportunities for our students.
Through this partnership, 12 of our Year 10 students will take part in hands-on work experience across the year, giving them a real insight into what it’s like to work in the aerospace and advanced manufacturing industry. There will also be opportunities for Year 11 students to explore apprenticeship routes with the company after they finish their studies.
Héroux-Devtek designs and manufactures aircraft landing gear systems and operates worldwide, making this a fantastic opportunity for our students to see high-quality careers right on their doorstep. The experience will help students build confidence, develop key employability skills and start thinking more ambitiously about their future pathways.
Our Principal, Linsey Hand, said: “This partnership gives our students a valuable opportunity to see what’s possible for their futures. Working with a global aerospace company so close to home will raise aspirations and provide real-world experience that can make a genuine difference. We’re incredibly proud to be building this relationship and look forward to seeing the impact it will have on our students.”
Daniel Martin, Special Projects Manager at Héroux-Devtek, added: “We’re pleased to be able to offer students from Sandymoor Ormiston Academy the chance to gain experience within our business. Supporting young people as they take their first steps towards future careers is something we’re passionate about.”
